Reupholster & Restyle
Is your sofa still sound, but looking dated? Furniture made in the 20th century or earlier is usually well-made with a solid hardwood frame that can be restyled if you want. We can re-upholster or re-style your upholstered furniture so it’s comfortable and stylish. Let us re-work it to fit your current décor and needs. We use as much Canadian-made upholstery material as possible for slipcovers, down cushions or down and foam cushions.
We are so pleased when a client wishes to re-style their older upholstered furniture. It saves it from the landfill and the maple frames of older upholstered sofas and chairs are more solid and of higher quality than most furniture frames built today, often out of chipboard or plywood.
We can custom-build and upholster a new hardwood sofa frame exactly right for your home. We’ll order your selection of designer fabric or you can source your own fabric.
Are you down-sizing and have a sofa that is too large to fit into your condo? We can cut the frame to make it smaller. It will be solid for years to come. We can take your traditional wooden dining room chairs and convert them to comfortable, upholstered Parson’s chairs.
When reupholstering we remove and discard the existing webbing and padding to the bare wood frame. We remove the existing finish from the legs and trim and, apply hand-rubbed stain or paint application according to the customer’s colour choice and complementing the fabric. Then we web the bottom with jute webbing, add new foam and felt on the seat and back, replace or re-tie the spring coils, enclose the bottom with a lining. Then reupholster to the same style or restyle it according to the style requested by the client.
Do you have a leather sofa that needs reupholstering? We can upholster it using the finest Italian or Scottish leathers. There’s no need to throw out the old leather; we can use it to reupholster your dining room chairs or a foot-stool.
